Opportunity to Attend Creative Summit and Film Master Class in Sweden, June 2013 – Apply Now

Under the Creative Edge project, the Western Development Commission (WDC) wants to bring creatives from the West of Ireland to Skellefteå, Sweden in June 2013 to attend 2 events:

1. FilmArc 2.0 Master Class – Entertainment (10-11 June):

This Master Class for the audiovisual sector will be an intense two-day event which will be very practical and specific.  Participants will be freelancers and production companies and the Master Class will focus on entertainment and two main topics: Formats (developing new formats for TV and web, how to write format bibles, how to sell formats); and Distribution (how to distribute in new markets, how to actually get views online).

The programme is not yet finalised but two speakers are confirmed – Lars Blomgren, CEO Filmlance who are responsible for the crime series Bron/Broen (The Bridge); and Ted Kjellson, Director Salmonfox who are responsible for the Swedish children’s TV show Skrotarna.  The Master Class will be an opportunity to not only learn but also to network with production companies from Sweden, Norway and Finland.  For more information on the Master Class http://filmarc.net/events/masterclass-skelleftea

2. Creative Summit (12-13 June):

A broader event for creatives of all types – but particularly those involved in communications or design.  It’s a great networking opportunity to explore new ideas and trends in creativity with people from across Sweden, Finland and further afield.   Among the speakers this year are – Denise Wilton, Creative Director at the London-based design and product invention studio Berg; Lisa Lindström, CEO at digital design bureau Doberman; Katrina Dodd, consultant and writer with Contagious Communications; as well as several speakers focusing on human-technology interactions.

Under the Creative Edge project, the WDC wants to support up to four creative sector practitioners from the Western Region of Ireland (Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, Galway and Clare) to attend one or both of these events.   Anyone attending the Film Master Class will also benefit from staying on for the Creative Summit, but if you’re not working in film or TV then only the Creative Summit might be of interest.
